She talks about the time she grew up in rural Gloucestershire, and took part in a dance contest when she was eleven or twelve years old, doing and interpretive dance dressed as a slave to Marvin Gaye‘s “Calypso Blues”, and her first exploration of the subject of adult love in Louis Jordan‘s “Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby?”.
