Four Tet Gives Away the Late Night Tales Mix Reissue for Free!
In 2004, the Late Night Tales artist-curated mix series released a mix by Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet–– a collection of 60s psych, experimental loops, electro-jazz, outsider folk, post-rock and more. Late Night Tales has now reissued the mix, a “Collectors Edition” on CD and 180 gram vinyl.
However, it seems that Hebden did not authorize the reissue. He wrote on Twitter, “[It] has nothing to do with me… they never told me about it and not heard the remaster.” He recommended that fans “just ignore it” and download it for free here. He also offered a WAV file of his cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Castles Made of Sand” from the mix.
According to Late Night Tales, Hebden’s mix “has been our most requested for a vinyl re-release.” Statement:
As Late Night Tales started in the late 90s a lot of our older editions were only on CD. We have been steadily re-issuing the series on digital stores and, due to popular demand, on vinyl. We’d originally told Kieran about the reissue of his 2004 album when the digital was organised at the end of 2012. The reissues carry the original mix itself and the separated tracks. This vinyl edition is the same as that. If there’s been some confusion, Kieran has our details to get back in touch.
