Son Lux – Lost It To Trying

Title: Lost It To Trying

Artist: Son Lux

Album: Lanterns

Year: 2013

Genre: Experimental, Art Rock, Avante-Garde, Electronic

Ryan Lott, aka Son Lux, has several overlapping music personas. He is a classically trained composer, an electronic producer, and an occasional beatmaker for rappers. He’s recently collaborated with some pretty big names; like Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire and These New Puritans. His signature sounds tend to be of a maximal kind, swarming the ear from every angle without overcrowding it.

On “Lost It To Trying”, his first song for his album Lanterns for Joyful Noise Recordings, we hear remnants of loose art rock, with glistening synths arriving from every direction building up his signature sound. The joyful choral singing sounds too familiar with Sufjan Stevens‘ songs. Quite the programmer.
