Courtney Barnett – Avant Gardener

Title: Avant Gardener

Artist: Courtney Barnett

Album: The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas

Year: 2013

Genre: Indie, Indie Rock

The perfect blend of Bob Dylan, folk rock, indie and a little psychedelia, “Avant Gardener” tells the story of a girl dragging her underemployed ass out of bed late on a Monday morning to try her hand at gardening– at which point she suffers a panic attack. This sounds like the type of band the Ellen Page character Juno would listen too while gently headbanging and drinking orange juice while fake dialing on her burger phone.

Her debut LP ‘The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas‘, will be released soon on House Anxiety / Marathon Artists / Milk!

My favourite line from the song is “I was never good at smoking bongs”!
